Psychiatric Evaluation — First Visit

Not knowing what to expect
shouldn't be what stops you

A lot of the fear around a first psychiatric visit comes from simply not knowing what happens in the room. Here is exactly what to expect — no surprises, nothing left vague.

₹2,000

Evaluation fee

45–60 min

Typical duration

No referral

Needed to book

What's included

What actually happens in the evaluation

This is a comprehensive first conversation, not a rushed check-in. Dr. Divya takes the time needed to properly understand what you're going through.

A detailed discussion of what brought you in — symptoms, history, and current concerns

Relevant personal, family, and medical background

A structured psychiatric assessment

Dr. Divya's clinical impression, explained in plain language

An initial treatment plan — which may include therapy, medication, lifestyle changes, or a combination

Time for your questions — nothing is rushed

What to bring

Any previous prescriptions, test reports, or discharge summaries related to your mental health

A list of any medications you are currently taking, for any condition

For a child or teenager: any relevant school or paediatrician notes

A support person, if you would like one with you — this is entirely your choice

Nothing on this list is required to book. If you don't have any of it, come anyway — it simply helps Dr. Divya build a fuller picture faster.

After your first visit

What comes next

01

You leave with a clear plan

Not just a diagnosis, but a concrete next step — whether that's therapy, medication, further assessment, or a combination.

02

A follow-up is scheduled

Most patients return for a Review / Follow-up Visit (₹700) a few weeks later, to check how the plan is working and adjust it if needed.

03

Care continues at a pace that fits you

Some people need weekly support in the beginning; others need a monthly check-in. This is worked out together, not fixed in advance.

If ongoing talk therapy becomes part of your plan, sessions run 45–50 minutes at ₹1,500 — see Counselling & Psychotherapy for what that looks like.

Questions

Common questions

How long does the first psychiatric evaluation take?

The first evaluation typically takes 45–60 minutes. This is longer than a standard consultation because it involves a comprehensive assessment, not just a brief check-in.

What does the ₹2,000 evaluation fee include?

It covers the full first consultation with Dr. Divya C.R. — a detailed history, assessment, discussion of findings, and an initial treatment plan. It does not include medication costs or lab tests, if any are recommended.

Will I get a diagnosis on the first visit?

Often, yes — Dr. Divya will share her clinical impression and a working diagnosis where one is clear. Some presentations need a follow-up or further assessment before a diagnosis is confirmed. Either way, you will leave with a clear understanding of the next step.

Do I need to bring anything to my first visit?

Bring any previous prescriptions, test reports, or discharge summaries related to your mental health, if you have them. If you are booking for a child, it helps to bring any school or paediatrician notes. Nothing else is required — you do not need a referral.

Will I have to start medication on the first visit?

No. Medication is only recommended when it is clinically appropriate, and only with your understanding and agreement. Many first visits end with a plan that does not include medication at all.

What happens after the first visit?

You will usually be booked for a Review / Follow-up Visit — a shorter, ₹700 appointment to check how the plan is working and make any adjustments. Follow-up frequency depends on your treatment plan, but is typically every few weeks in the beginning.
