Guidance
Not sure where to start?
If you are in crisis right now
Call 108 (emergency) or go directly to your nearest government hospital emergency department. If the situation is urgent but not immediately life-threatening, call the Vandrevala Foundation helpline on 1860 2662 345 — they are available 24 hours and can help you decide on the right next step.
If you are struggling but not in crisis
The right first step is usually a psychiatric assessment — not a helpline call, not self-help alone. A psychiatrist can give you an accurate understanding of what is happening and what kind of support is most likely to help. You can book an appointment at Intune Mind here, or call us on +91 86101 41220.
If you are supporting someone who is struggling
Read our guide on how to help someone with depression for practical, compassionate advice. The most important thing you can do is encourage professional assessment — and offer to help make it happen rather than just suggesting it.
If cost is a concern
Government hospitals in Coimbatore offer free psychiatric care — though waiting times may be longer. iCall (91529 87821) also provides free telephone counselling. At Intune Mind, fee concessions are available on request for patients who need them — please ask when you call.
